WHAT WE DELIVERED
CONDUCTR delivered an interactive clock-based media installation for the visitor centre at the Royal Liver Building, transforming an underused space into a cinematic, accessible experience that brings the building’s history and cultural significance to life.
Designed as a focal point within the visitor centre, the installation combines physical interaction with large-scale projection to enrich the wider tour experience.
The existing visitor centre featured largely static displays and a green-screen photo experience that guests found difficult to use and engage with.
Key challenges included:
• Low interactivity within the visitor centre
• Accessibility limitations for guests unable to reach the top of the clock tower
• A need to present deep historical content in a way that worked for both tourists and local visitors
• Ensuring simplicity and ease of use for a broad age range
CONDUCTR designed and delivered a bespoke clock-face installation featuring:
• Five physical brass buttons triggering curated short films
• Dual projection mapping onto the clock face and surrounding wall
• Cinematic content built from the Royal Liver Building’s extensive archive
• AI-enhanced restoration and animation of historic black-and-white imagery
• A discreet, extended-accessibility film offering a full 360-degree drone view from the top of the clock tower
The experience was intentionally designed to be intuitive, inclusive, and visually impactful, while respecting the heritage and cultural importance of the building.
The installation has:
• Elevated the visitor centre from a transitional space into a core part of the experience
• Introduced the only interactive element within the centre, creating a clear focal point
• Improved accessibility by offering all visitors the experience of views previously unavailable to many
• Re-engaged local audiences by highlighting lesser-known stories and figures central to Liverpool’s identity
• Been positively received by the client, with early feedback highlighting its visual quality and guest appeal
The result is a culturally sensitive, future-facing heritage experience that balances education, emotion, and ease of use.
Everything is designed, developed, and delivered in-house – from software and media to physical build and control systems. CONDUCTR designs immersive environments where tech disappears, and the experience takes centre stage.
